Sabbath?

What is the Sabbath, and why is it so important to us?

2 By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done. Genesis 2:2-3 NIV

The seventh day of the week, Saturday, is observed by the Seventh-day Adventist church around the world as a day of rest, worship and ministry in keeping with the teachings of Jesus. In addition to an important break from the toils and labours of the working week, it is a chance to commune with God.

The Sabbath is observed between sunset Friday night, to sunset Saturday night. Sunset?

Many church members will testify to the importance of Sabbath to their lives. A break from work, from study, from the stresses of the world. Following the church service, many people will often share a meal together, explore nature, participate in bible studies, and enjoy music concerts.

At the Ringway Life Building we try and make the most of Sabbaths, especially in the summer where we often enjoy picnics and walks together in the Cheshire & Derbyshire countryside
